AN INVITATION TO JOIN YOUR ORANGE BELT BOWLING ASSOCIATION
If you are a sanctioned league bowler, you are eligible to join the Orange Belt Bowling Association Board of Directors.
What is the Board of Directors and what do they do?
The Board consists of fellow bowlers like yourself. We have a President Four (4) Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Sgt. At Arms, Sixteen (16) Directors and Associate Directors.
The term of office for the above is two (2) years except for the Secretary, Treasurer and Sgt. At Arms which is for three (3) years. All are elected by a Delegate chosen from each league and current Board Members.
The Boards meets the first Saturday of each month on a rotating basis between the lanes in Lakeland and the lanes in Winter Haven.
What do we do?
As we are the link between the American Bowling Congress and League Players, we:
1. Inspect and certify bowling centers.
2. Inspect and certify honor scores.
3. Organize and conduct YOUR Annual Tournament.
4. Provide assistance to leagues when need for such purposes as league sanctions, rules, disputes, etc.
What does it cost?
In money? Nothing. This is not a dues paying club. Your ABC sanction card is all you need.
In time? You would be required to attend the monthly meeting which start at 7:00 PM on the first Saturday of the month at the designated house and help if asked at any function of the Association.
What’s in it for me?
Besides helping your fellow bowler, if elected, an OBBA Jacket, an OBBA shirt, and the opportunity to go, on a rotation basis to the National ABC Convention and the State Jamboree as a representative of the OBBA. The cost of all this is paid by your Association.
Talk to a Director about coming to a meeting and see what we do. If you then wish to join us as an Associate Director, all you need to do is fill out our application form. We will do the rest.
