Our History

The Orange Belt Bowling Association was organized first as the Lakeland Bowling Association in 1956. At that time there was no bowling establishment in Polk County and Imperial Lanes in Lakeland, since demolished by fire, was near completion. There were about one hundred potential bowlers anxious to roll the first ball. Several would-be keglers attended a meeting: realizing that an organization was necessary. The Lakeland Bowling Association was formed and membership swelled to about thirty teams or about one hundred fifty bowlers. Of course, the seed sprouted and soon it was necessary to belong to a team or not bowl most nights of the week.

[02-07-2010]Come out to bowl and support the Care for AIDS Organization at AMF Lakeland Lanes on Feb. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. For $10 you receive two hours of bowling and shoes. This benefits the young people in their efforts to fight AIDS in Kenya.

[01-21-2010]Treasure Coast USBC will be hosting their 4th annual Open Tournament and Women's Tournament the last 3 weekends in March 2010. The entry deadline is March 6, 2010. These tournaments are open to all bowlers in the state of Florida. The only additional cost is obtaining the local association dues which are $8.00. [01-16-2010]In the fifth annual Youth/Adults Doubles Tournament, $1,500 in scholarships were given away. Handicap Division winners were Becca Serkez/Clay Gillem, Shelby Digan/MaryAnne White and Kyle and Zac Adair. In the scratch competition, the top spot went to Kevin Buynak/Gabe SanMartin, Travis and Hugh Slater took second, and third was Garrett Sanders/Ryan Mahar.
The OBBA Youth Local Championships will be Feb. 6 and 7 at Cypress Lanes.
